Yesterday saw the launch of the much-awaited global Salesforce gathering, Dreamforce 2021. With a select few 1,000 people attending in-person from San Francisco & the other 150 million people joining live on Salesforce+, the tech event broke all the past records. After an action-packed first day of Dreamforce 2021, the expectation levels were at their peak to see what was in store for the second day.
As Salesforce events never fail to deliver, even the day two of Dreamforce 2021 was jam-packed with guest sessions, product announcements, interactive workshops, and a lot more. If you missed out on attending any of these events, here are some of the top highlights from the second day of Dreamforce 2021.
Fireside Chat with Parker Harris
The second day kicked off with a quick fireside chat with Salesforce co-founder & CTO, Parker Harris being hosted by Soledad O’Brien. In that engaging back-and-forth conversation, Parker Harris provided a bit of insight into both the past and future of Salesforce. Additionally, he recognized the changes made over the last 22 years as well as the impact of the trust crisis & climate change on the ‘Future of Work’.
Parker also spoke about the future innovations that are in the pipeline, in addition to embracing the much-needed idea of having digital HQ. He also spoke about the origin & progress of the Trailblazer community where people were actively encouraged to blaze the ‘click, not code’ trail. He also commented how the vibrant community blazed trails not just professionally, but personally in society as well.
Launch of Salesforce’s ‘Backup and Restore’ Solution
Another major announcement made yesterday was the debut of Salesforce’s very-own ‘Backup and Restore’ solution, a new data recovery service native to the Salesforce platform. Marla Hay, Salesforce’s VP of Product Management, announced that Backup and Restore, built with ease-of-use in mind, automatically creates backup copies of business-critical data & empowers organizations to restore & recover data in just a few clicks. Prioritizing data protection, Backup and Restore automates daily backups of standard objects, custom objects, & files and attachments in Salesforce.
In this respect, even we have a comprehensive data backup & recovery solution called ‘DataArchiva Backup’ that was launched during Dreamforce 2020. This robust data backup solution is designed to ensure the security of critical Salesforce data & protect it from all threats. Offering different types of data backup options like full, incremental, manual, & automated along with quick & reliable recovery; DataArchiva Backup can take care of all your complex Salesforce data backup needs. DataArchiva Backup uses customers’ own S3 storage to keep the backup data with 100% control & accessibility. Check out the app here.

Connecting Salesforce & Excel
Salesforce is well aware of the fact that it is easier to take users out of Microsoft Excel but it’s extremely difficult to take Excel out of them. Therefore to simplify this issue, yesterday Salesforce launched the ‘XL-Connector’, which securely syncs Salesforce data to Excel. The main objective of XL-Connector is to ensure that users can securely export, import, & automatically refresh Salesforce data using an Excel user experience. Not only does this connector keep users happy, but admins can mass update records fast, without battling with data loaders.
Black Women in Leadership
In a Salesforce-first, the attendees on Day Two also witnessed a wonderful panel of eminent women speakers in the session on ‘Black Women in Leadership’. The guests included the mayor of San Francisco, London Breed; the award-winning writer, Minda Harts; & author, journalist and television personality, Elaine Welteroth. In this eye-opening yet inspiring session, they discussed the concept of Black excellence, the social issues, obstacles & challenges, societal & institutional racism, and what it meant to each of them.
Tapping Into the Gold Medal Mindset
Salesforce had saved the best session for the very last! Sarah Franklin, president and CMO of Salesforce, hosted an inspiring conversation with the U.S. Paralympian, Blake Leeper and the U.S. Gold Medal Gymnast, Aly Raisman. Both the distinguished guests shared their success stories focusing on the lessons learned along the way.
Talking about courage, perseverance, & accountability in this wonderfully engaging and motivational session; both Blake & Aly talked about being leaders on a global stage and the importance of winning collectively as a team.
Let’s see what Salesforce has in store for everyone on the final day!
